Alan Auld Engineering takes a trip down British Gypsum Marblaegis Mine

A visit to the British Gypsum Marblaegis Mine was organised by the Midland Institute of Mining Engineers Young Members Group (MIME YMG), which is managed by Sharon Hollingsworth of Alan Auld Engineering. A group of five visited the mine, comprising of members from Alan Auld Engineering, MIME Young Members and British Tunnelling Society Young Members

Upon arrival at the mine the group were introduced to Matthew Kennedy and Nathan Vyas, both Graduate Engineers, and they proceeded to give a very well explained and illustrated site induction prior to entering the mine. Two site pick-up trucks took the group down the mine, which at its deepest is 100m below ground level. The visit involved seeing different parts of the mine including a working face and underground workshops.

The guides Matthew and Nathan were very knowledgeable and ready to answer any questions asked by the group. The tour was well structured and a big thank you goes out to Matthew and Nathan for such a great day!
